The Full Story
Beyond the Beeps and Boops
This is a bit more of an informal introduction. I decided to pursue music in my late teens and started playing and learning guitar. From there I fell in love with strings and composing, alongside piano. Combine that with a love of Max Richter and Hans Zimmer, I dived straight into Minimalism. This is a genre and style I love and often write in, although I do like to write in a more traditional orchestration format.
Somewhere on this journey I ran into a module called Audio for Media at University, and it's safe to say recreating sounds for image is beyond satisfying and something I loved. This is how I ended up as a Sound Designer working in industry today. These are two disciplines I love and am extremely passionate about and take great joy and pride in.
Mission
The two missions, if you want to make it sound that serious, are to showcase myself as both a Composer and Sound Designer, with the aim of highlighting my ability and experience.
The second and just as important, if not more important mission. Is while doing this, to hopefully reach out to people who might want to know more about each discipline. The aim within this will be to reduce some of the knowledge barriers within industry, how to navigate finding work, and showcasing yourself as a Sound Designer.
Vision
Alongside showcasing my own work, I really want to shape an accessible pathway into understanding Sound Design and appreciating it.
Most importantly to make it feel accessible to anybody.
I want to showcase small concepts and basic understanding, extending to more complex knowledge and considerations around Sound Design. As an Audio Designer in the games industry, I have been on the other side of wondering how to break into the industry, and have felt isolated and annoyed at the lack of information and honest conversations needed at earlier levels in the process.
Therefore the overall vision will be to create a place that people can find information based on my own experiences, and also to help people learn things that will actually allow them to navigate their own journey in Sound Design
